adminThe Association of African Private Universities (AAPU), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, has organised a two-day capacity-building workshop for staff of the Ministry’s Evaluation and Accreditation Division in Abuja.
Held from 20 to 21 August 2026, the workshop highlights AAPU’s commitment to supporting government institutions and strengthening education quality assurance and professional standards.
Under the leadership of its President, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, AAPU is also advancing the idea that private universities should not operate in isolation but should actively contribute to policy development, knowledge sharing, and the overall development of Africa’s education system.
The programme brought together education professionals and experts to build capacity in credential evaluation, certificate authentication and verification, quality assurance, and assessment of professional qualifications.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and the President of AAPU, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo.
The Permanent Secretary was represented by the Director of Education Support Services, Mr. Amudipe Gabriel Oluwole, while Prof. Gwarzo was represented by Prof. Ahmed Maigari Ibrahim.
Technical sessions were facilitated by Prof. Muhammad Muftahu, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, and Mr. Fayemi Ebenezer.
The experts addressed international credential evaluation, modern certificate verification, emerging quality assurance practices, and assessment of professional qualifications.
The sessions featured presentations, question-and-answer sessions, experience sharing, reflections, and practical exercises.
The interactive engagements provided participants with practical knowledge and skills to improve evaluation, accreditation, and quality assurance processes.
The workshop further demonstrated AAPU’s role in promoting professional development, institutional capacity, and quality assurance in the education sector.
The programme ended with the presentation of certificates, a vote of thanks and closing remarks by the Head of the Evaluation and Accreditation Unit, Dr. Aliyu Abubakar Mirnga.
The event also featured a group photograph, bringing the successful two-day capacity-building programme to a close.
